Personal information
In 1990 I was born in Basel, Switzerland. I grew up in Bubendorf, a village in the Baselbiet and I still live there. My interest for arts in general awoke when I had to choose what main subject I want to take at the Gymnasium (High School). Initially I wanted to attend the Music class, since I was a piper in a Clique at the Basler Fasnacht, but soon realised that I have a bigger interest in art and crafts.
After the Matura in 2010 I attended the preperatory course for arts at the Schule für Gestaltung Basel. I did this to get a firmer grasp of research and experimenting. This helped me for my application at the Institut of Fashion Design at the Hochschule für Gestaltung und Kunst, Basel (HGK). I also applied for product design in Luzern, but when I received the answer that I’m accepted at both schools, I chose to go to Basel and do Fashion Design.
In 2013 our mandatory internship semester started. I knew since before I had started with the school, that I will go to New York. The vibe of this buzzing city always fascinated me, since I first went there with 6 years. I applied at Isabel Toledo and threeASFOUR. Gabi Angie and Adi were so welcoming and lovely, that I decided to go there. I had a great semester with many inputs and inspirations both from them and the city.
Now after my graduation I want to go deeper into the subject of my thesis. I want to research smart fabrics, fabrics that light up or that change with temperature. Work with new materials made with bacteria or recicled material fom the oceans. Technology and research as well as exerimentation ar my biggest interests in the fashion world. Not turning fashion into something ‘new’, but turning something new into fashion.
